Day 80

Woke up at 5:00am to start hiking today. Supposed to get up to 94 again today so we all tried to be hiking by 6:00am. It was really nice to get some miles under our feet before the sun came up. We're going to do the same thing tomorrow.

Lots of State Park camping in this area. Which means fresh water from a spiqot, and real bathrooms! We had two of them in the first 7 miles. One of them was a monument for George Washington.

I had never heard of this monument before, it had a pretty good view from the top

The trail was pretty shady today which was good, but the heat just drains all the energy out of you. We had around 21 miles to hike today but only 3000ft of up.

The Walmart had more beef taco filling so I've been eating my Knors Marinara pasta meals. They taste incredible, and are really filling.

We haven't seen this brand since Fontana Dam, 900 miles ago.

We finished the night tenting at the Ensign Cowell Shelter at mile 1058.3. Tomorrow, it's supposed to rain, and to put us in a good location to try the half gallon challenge, we're hiking 25 miles to another shelter. Hoping it doesn't get too hot tonight, I'm sweating writing this blog post again in my tent. It didn't cool down till after 10:00pm last night. None of us used our sleeping bags, we just stuck to our pads in minimal clothing.

Happy Trails 🌲
