Day 78

Harper Ferry! We had a really easy 13 miles into town today, barely had to hike upwards at all. We left the trail center around 7:00am but still got to town by 11:00am. I had some service so I spent most of the hike calling people to catch up.

Not much for views today, just a lot of flat walking and day hikers

Once we got to Harper's Ferry, we went straight to the ATC to get our picture taken. They take your picture and put it in the logbook. I was hiker 528 at Springer Mountain but now am hiker 182 to hit Harper's Ferry

They had a small hiker lounge, and the coffee was dedicated to a man who has been hiking the trail forever. He just hiked back and forth, but doesn't go all the way north. His name is No Rush, and I met him earlier this spring at Boots Off Hostel.

Afterwards we went out to eat before heading to the Hostel. The food was great at Snallygasters but it was starting to get really hot out.

After checking into the Halfway Hideaway, we showered, started laundry and then walked downtown to the outfitter. It was a lot longer of a walk then we expected and down a very large hill. We ended up ubering back due to the heat.

We got to walk around and look inside the John  Brown Museum

For dinner we ordered pizza and watched Hamilton on the TV. Tomorrow we will resupply and hike 11 miles to the next shelter. We have some big mileage days planned out!

It feels great to hit Harper's Ferry, while we might not be at the exact halfway point, it's a big enough milestone that we were all giddy with excitement today.

Happy Trails 🌲
