Day 57
Today was our biggest day so far, 22.7 miles to the Pickle Branch Shelter. We all woke up around 6:15am and were hiking within the hour. The pastures were covered in fog and dew, and you could see all the spiderwebs everywhere.
My plan was to get through 12 miles to have lunch at the Niday Shelter. The weather was pretty enjoyable today, upper 60s and partly cloudy.
There were lots of small "lizards" on trail today. We weren't sure what they were but I noticed them a lot.
There was a lone Rhododendron blooming on the Ridgeline today. It felt good to get so many miles done today. Tomorrow we have 17 miles on trail to go, and stop at a gas station down the road to grab a few items to hold us over till Daleville.
Tomorrow we will also hit Dragons Tooth, and Macafee Knob. We also only have a few miles till 700! Everybody feels pretty good after today, mainly just tired. It's a lot more time spent on your feet but I'm having my parents bring down a new pair of shoes next week!
Happy Trails 🌲
