Day 49

We all woke up a bit earlier today to try and beat the heat. High of 80 today, but won't get there till noon.
We did get to the 550 mile mark, only 3/4ths of the way to go!
We had our first river crossing. Virginia just issued a burn ban since there is such a bad drought at the moment. Lick Creek barely got up to our shins today
We originally planned 22 miles today, but had to call an audible in the heat. We stopped at 18 miles and saved 4 miles and 2000ft up. We were hoping to spend the night in the shelter with the incoming rain, but the forecast changed to a small amount.

We found a large campsite on a dirt road .1 miles off trail. The five of us and Miracle Mark stayed here. Tomorrow we will shoot for another 19 mile day.
Happy Trails 🌲
