Day 28
Woke up pretty tired, stayed at the brewery for a while last night. We did venture to the Tobacco Road store on the way back to the hostel where we met Waco the chicken.
We went back to the Smokey Mountain Diner again this morning for breakfast as a big group, 10 of us total. The rest of the day was spent exploring the town, I bought a new hat, and shipped it home with some of Nick's gear he was sending home. I also grabbed a nalgene at the outfitter so I can start to put stickers on it, including one with Waco on it.
Hot Springs is a very Hiker Friendly town, had a lot of fun but in order to save money tonight we're hiking two miles out and saving the hostel stay, and potential return to the brewery.
I went to the post office with Nick, and the guy let us in the back room, and told us we could look for the package. It wasn't there so he's getting it forwarded to Hampton TN. That will be the next hostel/town day we have, since Erwin will be a HIRO day. (Hike in, Resupply out)
As a late lunch, we went to the HillBilly Market and grabbed some Hot Italian Subs and Arizona Iced Teas. It's great not having to worry about sugars in drinks and food since calories are king right now. We all gained a few pounds back in the last 24 hours.
We said goodbye to the other tramily of 4. Magician was only doing a section for 4 weeks so he's getting off trail tomorrow. He said he would meet us in Maine for Trail Magic, since he's a fellow New Englander. We are a whole 2 miles ahead of the other group now, so we will most likely see them at the next shelter.
We have 4 full days of hiking to get to 68 miles and our next resupply in Erwin TN. Officially 4 weeks on trail today 🎉
Happy Trails 🌲
