Day 14

Officially two weeks on trail today! 
We had quite a monster day ahead of us around 15 miles to Cold Spring Shelter from mile 111.
it was a beautiful day for hiking, and we had plenty of great views all day. One of our first great weather days. 
Its very nice to hike around other hikers, not that Nick and I are sick of each other, but we don't have any new stories to tell eachother.
We spent the entire day with Owen (From Maine) and Patches as we tentatively planned out the next few days to hike together and head into the Smokies as a group.
We finally hit our first trail magic of the trail, Gloworm and Lunar Worm gave us Coca-Cola and Grilled cheeses before our final climb to the shelter. 
We got to the tentsite, and I stayed here last time cause I know there is great sunrise opportunities!
Might be calling an audible tomorrow with the incoming temperature drop and rain so we might be staying the night at a hostel. Don't want to be in the rain/snow when temperature is projected to be in the teens up at elevation.

Day 1

Day 1 got off to a less than ideal start. Big snorer in the shelter last night. Got started around 8:00 with a quick intro about leave no trace at the visitor center. Registered and got our hiker tags, we're numbers 526 and 528.  Started the 8.8 mile trek up the approach trail. Which leads from the Gateway Arch to Springer Mountain. Some people opt to drive up and bypass the approach trail which is a highly discussed point between thruhikers. I personally think you should hike it. What's the difference adding 9 miles to an already 2000+ mile trek. Day 4

Made quick time taking down camp this morning. Neither of us had much for breakfast left. I only had 7 granola bars, the butt end of a baguette, and a little pepperoni left. Ate half of that, and flew towards Blood Mountain. Which is the equivalent to one of the smaller Belknap Range Mountains. Packs were as light as could be with no food in them. Shelter at the top Unfortunately I'm now 0/2 for views on a blood Mountain as both times I've been up it's been incredibly foggy. By the time we made it to the bottom the sun came out and we both had no food in our package.
