Day 11
First full day in North Carolina was very easy. Started at Standing Indian Shelter and the goal was Betty Creek Gap around 11-12 miles away.
Morming miles were very foggy, and very easy elevation wise. No views from the tops of the mountains though
We were very ahead of schedule with our miles today so we took an hour long lunch and nap at Carter Gap Shelter. We were able to find a great tentsite right next to a creek where we soaked out feet, and made a small campfire.
11.3 miles today with around 2000ft of elevation. Definitely our easiest mileage day so far. Tomorrow looks good as well. Expecting around 6-7 hours of heavy rain tonight so hoping the tent withstands it's first rainstorm.
